At least nine cases of infection with the new strain of coronavirus EG.5 ('Eris') have been reported in Türkiye, Report informs via TASS.
"The situation does not give a ground for concern. The Eris variant, which has low virulence, was detected in nine people after laboratory tests. They had contact abroad and are in the same province of Türkiye," Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said.
He added that as the new coronavirus variant begins to spread in other countries, it will likely come to Türkiye too.
