Shamil Ayrim: We must fight against those who want to harm Azerbaijan-Turkiye brotherhood

When we organized inter-parliamentary relations in the broader sphere after the Second Karabakh war, one of the main tasks of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was that whatever is in Turkiye, the same model should be in Azerbaijan, Shamil Ayrim, deputy of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, head of the Turkiye-Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary friendship group, told Report.

According to him, today, huge investments are being made in the development of many fields, especially in the defense industry between Turkiye and Azerbaijan: "You know that Azerbaijan is an oil and gas country, and serious projects are being implemented with Turkiye. We implemented the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, TANAP and TAP projects. However, interparliamentary relations are very important for these projects to serve in the direction of achieving peace in the world.

"We, as parliamentarians of Turkiye, talk about the importance of these mega projects at every opportunity abroad and inside the country. For example, today in Europe, there is a natural gas crisis. Russia has imposed an embargo against Europe. In this historical period, Turkiye plays an important role in delivering Azerbaijani gas and oil, as well as Turkmen gas from Central Asia, to Europe. Together with our colleagues from Azerbaijan, we are trying to explain this to the international community."

The Turkish MP spoke about the issues that are a priority for the two brotherly countries after the Patriotic War: "Today, one of the most important issues for us, especially after the Second Karabakh War, is to fight against those who want to harm Azerbaijan-Turkiye solidarity and brotherhood.

"Because Azerbaijan-Turkiye relations are exemplary relations for the entire Turkic world. Today, positive progress is also observed among other Turkic-speaking countries. We see these developments more clearly within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). Other Turkic-speaking countries in Central Asia have already started active activities in this direction."
