Schools in Georgian regions with a significant Azerbaijani population will be granted a day off in celebration of the national holiday Novruz.
According to Report’s Georgian bureau, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia has confirmed that both public and private schools in these regions may request to observe March 21 as an official holiday.
Novruz was recognized as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list on September 30, 2009. On February 23, 2010, the UN General Assembly officially declared March 21 as the International Day of Novruz.
