Widespread forest fires in northern and northeastern Algeria have killed at least six people and injured around 100 others, according to the country's Interior Ministry, Report informs.
It was noted that over the past 24 hours, more than 100 residents of affected areas have been hospitalized, all reported to be in stable condition.
In recent days, more than 1,500 fire outbreaks have been recorded across northern Algeria. The blazes destroyed forest areas, palm groves, and farmland and damaged over 150 homes. Residents were evacuated in time.
Strong winds and temperatures above +35°C have made firefighting efforts more difficult.
