The US State Department has notified Congress that it is extending Azerbaijan's waiver from restrictions imposed under Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act.
The department sent the relevant document to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on July 28 and to the House Foreign Affairs Committee on August 10, according to Report.
Section 907, adopted in 1992, restricts US assistance to Azerbaijan. In 2001, Congress authorized the US president to waive the restrictions.
Since then, US presidents have annually extended the waiver and notified Congress of the decision.
