African countries supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, including during the Second Karabakh War, Farid Shafiyev, chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) said at the Africa Day conference "Empowering Africa and promoting multilateralism in an era of global challenges: the role of the Non-Aligned Movement."
According to him, African countries are of great importance within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement, and Azerbaijan paid attention to this during its chairmanship of the organization.
May 25 is Africa Day, marking the anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of African Unity in 1963, which was succeeded by the African Union.
