The Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis (lower house of parliament) approved the treaty on allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
Report informs via Uzbek media that the document has now been sent to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (upper house).
The treaty was signed on August 23, 2024 in Tashkent between the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev following the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of the two countries.
An important aspect of the treaty is its provision on non-alignment with alliances and blocs directed against the interests of the other party.
