Jeyhun Bayramov, Kairat Sarybay mull expanding activities of CICA

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay and ambassadors of the organization's member states during his official visit to Kazakhstan, Report informs, citing the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Issues arising from Azerbaijan's CICA chairmanship, the priorities of the chairmanship, and efforts to expand cooperation within the organization were discussed at the meeting.

Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the main priorities of his country's CICA chairmanship, noting that there are broad prospects for developing cooperation in the fields of transport and communications, especially given the important geographical location of the CICA member states.

Stating that Azerbaijan's chairmanship is also focused on institutionalizing the CICA and expanding its operational capabilities, the minister noted the importance of the new CICA headquarters in terms of further improving the work of the organization.

It was noted that the processes taking place in the region and the world have boosted the role and weight of the CICA as an inclusive regional platform. The importance of supporting the initiatives and efforts made during the chairmanship in this regard by all member states and active participation within the CICA was emphasized.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
