Brenda Shaffer, a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School (USA) and a member of the American Political Science Association, said that the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant poses a threat to the region, Report informs.
"Russia and Armenia decided to extend the operations of Armenia's nuclear power plant at Metsamor. Reminder that this nuclear power plant has no secondary containment vessel and poses a danger to the people of Armenia, Georgia, Türkiye, Iran and Azerbaijan. In all its cooperation agreements with Armenia, the EU insisted that the Metsamor Power Plant be closed and even gave funds to Armenia for replacement electricity generation," Shaffer said on X.
