Aide Marcilla Bello: Colombia faces paradox of lack of access to water resources

Colombia, possessing some of the largest water reserves in the world, faces the paradox of lacking access to water resources due to insufficient infrastructure development, stated Colombia's Deputy Minister of Housing, Cities and Territories Aide Marcilla Bello at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs

According to her, Colombia ranks sixth in the world in water reserves, yet a significant portion of the country's population still experiences problems with access to water resources.

She recalled that two years ago, Bogotá experienced a serious water crisis, despite the city's location in the Andean region, which is rich in water resources.

According to the deputy minister, during that period, water supply restrictions were imposed in the capital, and residents were forced to use water from buckets.

"At some point, we simply stopped recognizing the value of water," noted Marcilla Bello.
