Turkiye extended existing contracts with gas suppliers and signed new ones for liquefied natural gas (LNG) to overcome the economic crisis, the Turkish Energy Ministry said, Report informs via Oda TV.
The country has 100% filled the Tuz Golu and Silivri underground natural gas storage facilities. The daily consumed power increased from 92 million to 362 million cubic meters. In addition, Ankara held active diplomatic negotiations on energy issues.
Russia is the main supplier of gas to Turkiye.
According to Bloomberg, Ankara has previously asked Moscow to defer part of its payments for natural gas until 2024 to mitigate the economic damage from rising energy prices.
