Aytan Huseynli: Residents of small towns complain about lack of social spaces

According to a survey conducted in small communities outside of Baku, the need for public spaces is great, Aytan Huseynli, founder of the Placemaking Azerbaijan initiative, said at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

According to her, Placemaking Azerbaijan is an informal network focused on inclusive, child-friendly, and generally human-centered public spaces, particularly in small communities around Baku.

"When children grow up in an environment with narrow streets filled with parked cars, limited greenery, and few accessible public spaces, their outdoor life is limited to small, empty spaces between buildings. This impacts not only physical activity but also social interaction, independence, and emotional attachment to the neighborhood," she said.
